Searching for information on Hannah, he found the other six women were sentenced in the same court on the same day, arousing his curiosity. Departed SOM as a cabin boy of about 14 years of age on a British ship which he left at the Dutch island of Stacia. Went onto an American vessel and was landed at Edenton, North Carolina. He remained there until 1788 and then went to South Carolina and married a lady variously known as Eleanor, Nellie and Mary A.E. There were several children with many of his descendants staying in Lauderdale County Alabama. The "recollections" were set out in the 1836 testimony at the court of pleas for a Revolutionary War Pension under an Act of Congress of 7 Jun 1832. Karen has a copy of the transcript of testimony. William served as a volunteer seaman on American ships for about 3 years against British warships during the Revolutionary War.
